George is a Research Geotechnical Engineer currently carrying out research at Ove Arup & Partners and University College of London towards the Engineering Doctorate diploma. He has graduated from Imperial College London (MSc in Soil Mechanics and Environmental Geotechnics) and from the Department of Civil Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).
The Doctorate project, titled ”New design methodologies and 3D numerical analysis”, is jointly funded by EPSRC and Ove Arup & Partners. The Eurocode 7 is now established as the current British Standard for geotechnical design. The code is based on the principles of Limit State design and uses a partial factor format with particilar emphasis on the analysis of Ultimate Limit States (ULS). These topics have now to be considered in conventional use of numerical analysis.
